Creating Ops plans use acronym PACE:
P- Primary
A- Alternate
C- Contingency
E- Emergency

Conduct a risk assessment of each option with multiple options based on varying scenarios. Keep bug out routes current by updating maps. Currently in central Texas, new subdivisions, business growth and massive road construction are altering and destroying forests and eliminating uninhabited areas. After choosing routes perform physical inspections to identify specific markers that won’t be altered or destroyed. As much as possible, do not travel main roads; and, on foot, use tracks and power lines for ease of movement. Temporary encampments should be at least 100 meters off trail or road, and not visible. If a fire for cooking or warmth needed learn how to use a Dakota fire hole to hide the flame from exposing your location.

I have cleaned out several cat litter jugs and use 1 top bleach. Tap water will store for 6 months. If you're afraid to drink it then it can still be used for cleaning or flushing a toilet.

always keep in mind two routes of escape anywhere you go. Note cover and concealment positions, but also know where you can fire on the attacker with no way for them to escape or duck out accept into your line of fire. Image a very long firing lane. This will be a bit better than leaving, or falling back as you don't know how many there are, or what will be behind you. Intruders usually attack in packs.
