The thing that I find fascinating about idioms is their backstory. How did they come about? Why do we use the idioms as we do? For instance, I saw someone explain in another video that the reason Americans call that compartment at the back of the car, a “trunk”, is because when cars were just coming along they would strap a truck to the back of the vehicle, and the word stuck when car manufacturers started including that space in the body of the car itself. That is just so interesting to me!😊
