An insurance company in Australia started tracking one employee's keystrokes, only to find out that some days she wasn't working at all. She was eventually fired. The company looked at her keyboard activity over a period of 49 days and found she logged on late 47 days, logged off early on 29 and didn't work a single hour for four days.

The focus should be on work ethics and how to be an asset to avoid forcing your employer to go to these lengths. The company did nothing wrong here.

Working from home is a privilege, give the company a honest day's work when working from home. When they require you to be in the office for meetings or training, them are the days to get in some quality goofing off time.

Probable cause. If your company has metrics that you’re supposed to meet, as long as you’re hitting your quotas, there should be no monitoring. And the company should have to disclose if monitoring could be used.

Put tape over the camera lens of any company owned devices you might have. They could be watching you at any time. Also keep in mind that they can listen to anything you're doing.

By letting your employees know from the very beginning you loose the chance to test their integrity. When integrity is the most important factor for a company the covert way is a good way to eliminate those that are not naturally integrity driven
