Understanding autism: A behavior-analytic perspective

This animation describes autism as a teleological disorder of reinforcement relations in which response populations become skewed across extended temporal patterns of conditioning that result in disproportionate stimulus control over behavior. Autism is commonly associated with sensory issues that are erroneously believed to reside inside the individual. Here we explain sensation as a function of past and present environmental factors, informing pragmatic interventions on autism’s core language deficit.
