Thanks Andy. Lots of insight. Thanks!
My supervisor wrote a book about something he is passionate about. I bought the book. I am in the book identified as someone who is passionate about that subject.
So great match, eh?!

I have been following you since my master's days and finally when I am writing my research proposals now, it just makes so much sense. Thank you.

Don't make up purpose and passion. Find a lab doing research you _actually_ find exciting. Your life will be SO much better.

Very timely topic! I'd love a video on the university side of things! I've been trying to find out what kinds of professional experience is counted for RTP scholarships but the scholarship people at the uni I'm applying to have been very elusive about these things!

Well sometimes fitting in lab culture means something totally different. A recent rotation student we had was qualified and presented well but gave a really bad image during his time here. He was arrogant and complained about literally everything. We did not take him into our lab but he fit in really well in a computational lab where people were more introverted.

Hey Andy, I am always looking forward to your videos and they help me a lot in dealing with my advisor. Any insight regarding favoritism?

Hi Andy,
First, thanks for all your videos on the PhD. Your videos were instrumental during my applications and interviews.
I have a question, so I'm set to resume for my PhD next month in the UK and my first meeting with my supervisors have been scheduled... Any tips on how to approach this first meeting?

Hello, can someone explain me the difference between these 2 ways to achieve a doctoral degree : (scholarship)
1) The first way consists in undertaking doctoral studies at a University under the supervision of an academic mentor (supervisor). In this case, the admission to the PhD at the University might take place after the grant application period.
2) The second way consists in being admitted to a doctoral school,
which provides the framework for the following doctoral studies.
Thanks !

Thank you for sharing the secret, Andy. What about the PhD committee look for in applicants? Even if the potential supervisor likes you, the committee makes the decision. Any insight about it will be very helpful, thank you!

So is stating personal connection to a research field or interest in SOP a good approach to communicate your passion to your potential advisor?
