Hyperpigmentation is an inflammatory response by your melanocytes. Heat can trigger that inflammatory process. It's literally the skin trying to protect itself from the heat. The Dr is right, if you are prone to hyperpigmentation and melasma avoid heated tools, sauna and face steamers. Truly, nobody should be putting direct heat like this on their faces. I cannot think of ANY benefits. It's such a gimmicky tool.

What if heat isn't an issue for you? Orr maybe you use a rom temperature or cold tool? Are there any benefits similar to the ones you suggested for cellulite? Moving lymphatic fluid..? Releasing muscle tension? Or is the movement bad in some way?
