The ancient city of Bago is an ideal trip away from Yangon as it is only 1 hours drive North of the City. Bago (or as it was originally known Pegu) was the home of the first civilization in what is today known as Myanmar. Here you will find many impressive pagodas, monuments and other historical places. It is also a very traditional town where you will not see much of the globalised branding of shops and restaurants that you for example see in Yangon.
