How To Pressure Test Your Radiator

The cause of engine temperature issues can take quite a bit of poking and prodding to find the problem. Make it a little bit easier on yourself by using a radiator pressure tester to ensure you have a tight, sealed cooling system.

also let the pressure sit at what ever its supposed to some leaks are micro in size and wont be detected if you assume its holding pressure for a minute or two, always let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

Towards the end you said something to the effect of “cooling system rating (inaudible) was 16 pounds”. The radiator cap in the video at that point was showing “7” though, not 16. Can you elaborate if possible? If you meant “7”, if not then what you meant by “16”...Thx!!

Hey man, thanks for the video! i had a blown head gasket, so i got that replaced; however, i am still loosing coolant somewhere. there are no external leaks, and someone said it could be coming out the exhaust but the shop said that's just water. can i still be leaking internally if the system holds pressure fine?

The HF Pittsburgh / Maddox kits do not have a Jeep (Liberty) adapter. At least, it's not listed and I couldn't figure it out. It somebody disagrees, let me know!

i as not losing coolant but my coolant would end up up tine expansion tank and not back in the radiator, i took it toa mechanic yesterday and they said i have a blow head gasket because i have bubbles coming out of my coolant when its running. My thing is.... i dont have white sludge or smoke or the car is not overheating (yet) So i poured some k seal in there to hopefully catch fix it until i decide what i want to do. I know its expensive. But i dont want to buy another car or lease another one either. out of curisity, i'm going to bleed my coolant system again and then, i'm going to pressure test it liek you did just to see.

Been watching your videos for a week or so now and I had a question about lifts, I have a 98 Cherokee and I want to like it a total of 6 but my bank account says no at the moment so I was wondering if I could use 3in lift blocks up front and a set of 3 inch leaf springs in the rear and when my bank account gets happier put 3in spring to go with the blocks and shackles on the rear to make it a total of 6 or would that not work

What brand of tester kit is that? I have a 2014 Wrangler and rented a 22-piece PoweBuilt kit and it didn't have any adapter to fit Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicles listed in the manual. It had three universal adapters but non of them fit. There is another brand that I've looked at online that doesn't seem to have the adapter you are using either (Ever Tough).
