Satellite imagery released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows lightning flashes as Hurricane Ian creeped near Cuba on Tuesday, September 27.

The timestamp on the footage shows it was captured on Tuesday when Ian remained a major Category 3 hurricane as it continued to build towards the southeastern Gulf of Mexico
