How to update BMW maps in 2022/2023

Have you done your annual BMW navigation update yet? If not, it’s high time to! And don’t worry if you know little about BMW map updates. Dylan will explain how you can easily check your current navigation version and complete a BMW map update download.
It’s as simple as putting a USB flash drive into the USB port and entering an FSC code on the iDrive.

Got the map update from Bimmer-Tech for my 2012 750i. Was super easy to install although it does take time and the FSC code is annoying to enter. Worth the $125 to keep maps updated. The roads change a lot in a few years, at least around here. I didn't have any issues with the map update, but I did contacted Bimmer-Tech with an unrelated question, they were helpful and got a quick response.

I need help, my 2015 328i M Performance doesn't have maps or navigation. I have tried downloading updates from BMW into a flash drive ( well formatted) but nothing, I don't even have the "software upgrade" option available to click and when I go to maps it doesn't have a version so it looks like it didn't have any installed. Any suggestion on how to fix this, anything helps, thanks

$160 to update the maps 1 time, yet an android head unit is only $400 for my X6 and then I can use waze... IDK if its worth it.

Can the car go to sleep while you’re updating? Will this Interrupt the update and ruin the unit?
