Tropical Fruit Trees - Wonderful Pomegranate - Part 1

This is part 1 in the video series for my Wonderful Pomegranate tree/shrub/bush. Pomegranates are very high in antioxidants (which, of course, are good for our health). They supposedly original from the Mediterainian regions, but have adopted well to growing in various parts of the United States as well. This tree was transplanted to the ground about 4 days before the making of this video. It sat in a 15 gallon pot for up to 6 or 7 months prior. The soil in the pot was mainly compacted compost and therefore not good for container growing. I am excited to see the progress of this pomegranate plant and hope that you follow along for the journey.

Hello Tatyana. Thanks for coming by and getting involved in the channel. You sound like a likeminded person when it comes to growing your own food. Yes, actually I have used the free Starbucks coffee grinds before in some of my raised bed veggie gardens. I don't think I've used any on the fruit trees though. From what I remember, the grinds are high in Nitrogen, so they give a kick of growth and greening. I have to look into the red ants stuff. Don't like those little critters.

you might find this interesting, or may know this already but you can use used coffee grounds as fertilizers, its like crack to plants. you can actually get full free bags of them in star bucks, just ask for them most places collect them though out the day for people that use them in the yard. I also heard that you can use used coffee grounds on red ant hills, I think it suffocates them out or something. I mean I don't get attacked by them so much any more.

Hi Bigboifrom904. It has been a while, but I think I bought this tree from one of the big box home improvement stores, either Home Depot or Lowe's. Like Tatyana said, you do want to check the health of a plant if you are going to buy from a big box store because they tend to work more in bulk and not so careful like small local tree nurseries. Thanks for commenting and hope you stay in the conversation.

Hello Claire. Sorry for the late response. Been real busy. Well congrats, 5 fruits is 5 more than what I've gotten so far. Mine is hasn't fruited yet. If the fruit didn't taste good, you might want to looking into a your fertilizing a little more closely this next year. As far as the prunning for a bush, I think the basic approach you want to use is cut away low branches and focus on removing the smaller branches on the inside to allow light and air to penetrate the plant.

I got mine at Wal-Mart, I think mine was about 7 or 8 bucks. im actually trying to do the same thing as he's trying to do. I have a few different types of fruit trees and bushes, that way I can also just walk outside and pick fresh fruits I want and not have to go to the store to get it. iv gotten, a fig tree, papaya tree, kiwi tree, guava tree, raspberry and blueberry bushes and lemon tree all at Wal-Mart for under 8 bucks. you can go to home depot or lows garden section. but

Hello MrHazarduzDestructor. Yes, they are from the more arid middle eastern regions. There are many varieties now that do very well in many different areas. Thanks for the comment and keep watching.

...you go, I know this sounds picky but check the leaves & condition that there in, if there just a lil yellow I guess that's fine not ideal, but most likely there just not getting enough water or to much. but really keep an eye out for plants and trees that have red/yellowish/black dots or circles on more then a few leaves or look like they have holes on them, they might have a bacteria on them that can kill ur plant and worse spread to ur other ones, and before you know it your buying sprays.
