If you get a copyright strike, it means that a content owner requested the removal of their copyright-protected content from your video. We review the removal request, and if it appears to be valid we remove the video from YouTube (and issue a strike) to comply with copyright law. We'll walk you through what options you have when you receive a copyright strike.

Bigger channels often use copyright strikes to bully smaller channels

Well you guys 1) do nothing about abusive or invalid strikes, and 2) you don’t even respond to reports. I haven’t experienced this personally but I know of many people who had their videos taken down abusively and their counter notifications all got rejected instantly.

I had a video copyright claimed for 10 seconds of music. Happens all the time. I usually re-edit and re-upload.
The ONE time I decided to ask for a review and check, it comes back as a strike and the video is removed. So it was fine for them to initially claim monetisation, but then, ONLY AFTER I challenged it, strike one.

No one believes a group of humans actually look at your channel and decide if the strike is unfair

Prayers for all the new and hardworking YouTubers. May they succeed one day. Pray for me too.

I respect Youtube for protecting copyright. You are doing a really good job on that. But as the video says (0:00), small content creators don't intentionally break the rules. So wouldn't it be fair to introduce a tool to check if the video violates the rules/copyright before we upload the video. In my opinion, this will wipe out most of these unintentional uploads. I'm guessing Youtube already has a built-in AI for copyright check.

There's nothing to understand, if I want to put background music on my video I should be allowed to do it since I'm not getting any money from my channel. I'm actually doing a favor to the artist when I'm using their songs since my viewers hear them and it means I like them too. YouTube used to be fun years ago, now it's just annoying to constantly guess if your video will be blocked or not. Also it can get blocked not immediately but after days for no reason or with no warning...

The fact that they're teaching us how copyright strikes works as they don't fix the broken system is wild 💀

Nah, YouTube never reviews any copyright steikes. If a big youtuber submits it, you'll get striked as much as he wants.

Sometimes small creators don't know whether it is copyright infringement or not because it didn't show up on youtube studio. Suddenly, they get an infringement copyright without notification!
I think there should be a clause or something in the main YouTube account profile!

Ive never had a copyright strike before, and making content on a music based game is pretty hard to dodge the copyright bullets. Im pretty sure no one ever tries to get a copyright strike or anything, but the best advice is just research every piece of music you use, or artwork etc. since you just never know

Copyright strikes are considered distinct from Community Guidelines strikes; they are therefore no warnings and no impacts on channel feature access.

My problem has been getting "copyright strikes" from large corporations who have used the same PUBLIC DOMAIN material that I have used. Their automatic scanning of YouTube videos has found the same material they used on my videos. The fact that it is material in the public domain, and did not come from them, is not important to them. All it does in cause stress.
