It's why there are ML Engrs...

To bridge the gap between Data Sci and putting the models into production

I think it's more so because there is the development of the "full stack data scientist". A true DE wouldn't need ML. But truly merging the two might be a bit much for a single person.

I think it's besarse of the misconceiving idea of one person doing the cleaning anD creating the pipelines, and on top of that, this one person also have to develop the marchine learning model. Meaning there isn't a clear division of roles...

Maybe the question was too broad? What if you asked your followers "Is the mathematical details behind every machine learning algorithms important for data engineers"? Or something along the line of "Is understanding kernel trick for SVMs essential to be a successful data engineer"?
