Wait, some trees naturally shed their limbs?!? That is a really interesting strategy. Why would they do that?

"You can tell its an aspen, because of the way that it is"

Everyone knows the real way to tell if it’s an Aspen is because of the way it is. I think that’s pretty neat!

There was a writing prompt I saw on Reddit where aliens invade earth, but they allow humanity to appoint a champion to fight a duel for the planet’s freedom. In one of the responses, humanity named Pando as their champion, and the alien’s champion died of exhaustion trying to beat down all of the trees.

Pando lost its designation as the largest creature on earth. It now belongs to a massive underground fungus in W̶a̶s̶h̶i̶n̶g̶t̶o̶n̶ S̶t̶a̶t̶e̶ Oregon. The fungus also eats trees.

Fun fact in the Disney movie Strange World they name a plant after Pando as just like it’s real life counterpart all of shoots of it are one organism

As someone who has no knowledge of trees or woodworking, you are such a genuine guy and I enjoy watching and learning from you.

I would guess their wisdom would be "Sharing is caring, but it's even better when you're sharing with yourself!"

I love Aspen. The white bark with eyes.. the shape of the leaves that rustle a lovely sound in the breeze.
Just lovely and amazing in every way.

Also, you can tell if a tree is an aspen by the way it is

How neat is that?

i remember hearing a theory that pando might actually be multiple organisms and we'd never know. the theory is based on the idea that a small section of pando could've broken off by way of the connecting roots dying or breaking, thus making the section it's own self-supporting organism, but we'd never know bc they all share genetic material

PANDO MUST BE PROTECTED!! I wouldn’t at all be surprised if it’s some kind of forest guardian. If anything happens to Pando we’re probably fucked

Some Aspen have a green or tan shade to their bark. There are Aspen in Glacier NP that have a green shade.

It’s so beautiful how all their leaves are the same color and how almost all of them are equally healthy
