Making a vase out of aspen wood from (near) Pando

Learn a little bit about our dear friend Pando (aka the trembling giant, aka one of the oldest and heaviest living organisms on earth, aka a really cool friend) while I make a vase out of some wood that may or may not have come from him!

I live in Edmonton, and our surrounding/nearby biome is called "aspen parkland" because of the mix of trembling aspen and open plains. love these trees so much! they feel like home :D

My horse riding camp counselors would take the kids through a forest of birch trees. They told us that every hundredth or something leaf would taste like root beer. I think they just wanted to see the kids eat leaves.

fun fact to add on this, due to them being one giant organism connected by roots they experience season changes at the same time so they drop and regrow their leaves at the exact same time
