I live in Kennewick Washington. I just joined the United Health Medicare Advantage Plan. They have a Ucard that has $159 on it. This Ucard can be used to buy only healthy foods, OTC products, medical needs, and or pay for the electric bill. My husband has had this card for two years. I will be receiving one when I turn 65 in March. We just learned that Housing Authorities are counting this Ucard as income. I am on Section 8 with HUD. They are going to add this $159 for each of us as monthly income and then add that to our total yearly income. Our portion of the rent is going to skyrocket. This could kick us off the Section 8 program. I don't know yet. This may put people at risk of becoming homeless. I will have to wait and see what is going to happen. Do you know whom I can contact to change this? This is supposed to be helping us and not hurting us.
