Ouch, so many years wasted designing Eagle footprints, and NOW he shows me..
couldn’t you have started with this video… dunno… like ten years ago lol
Super useful though... great video as usual!

Cool shorts Colin. Initially I was confused, how subtracting only once gives the inner distance ? We need to subtract twice, the thickness to get that. Than I realised that pitch is the distance between two center of the pins, not from inner edges.

Pin pitch equals arithmetic mean of the in to in pitch and out to out pitch of the pins.

There might be a minor error in the calculation as it is not necessary that the pins have the same thickness in both direction. Could be thicker in one direction than the other.

Something else... make it a habit to wipe off the jaws with your finger before closing them and zeroing it. Tiny bits of debris can be on the jaws and prevent them from closing all the way

only if you dead-sure know these pins are square. otherwise you made a mistake during the first reading by reading the perpendicular pin axis. Also, the proper way would be to use the opposite caliper claw to read inner distances - no need for the superfluous diff step
