Personally, I am opposed to cheating, but perhaps you should have had a conversation with your dad first, especially when you spent 3/4 of the post explaining why you think he did it, and painted your mother in a rather negative light.
It doesn't sound like your parents were on the same page as far as what is important in life.
Perhaps you could have given your father the opportunity to fess up in his own way rather than getting in the middle.
