Should they change the design of the timer?

agreed this is absolutely a problem, need to fix it by making it first not a dnf as well as getting a better timer design for cubing use

my suggestions:
1) give an extra
2) if there's a video of the solve:
2.1) if the timer can be seen, use the last recorded time, provided that the video is at least 30fps
2.2) if the timer can't be seen, request a frame count

Review the footage, look at the timer one frame before the timer got hit. Then since it usually records at 60 fps you add 1/60th of a second to get the most accurate time.

Imagine getting a malfunctioned timer and the host is like "Awwww, too bad. So sad. DnF"

It's not the Competitor's fault, it's the Designer's fault and they deserve a proper redo ffs.

If they're recorded, can't they go back and watch the footage, and slow it down to the frame before it reset? I used to speed stack and I didn't have this problem with mats but that's the only thing I can think of doing for now other than redesigning the mats

I'm surprised that the competition standard for timers looks like a '90s gadget that was built in someone's garage. With cubes so advanced they use maglev, you'd expect timers to be way more advanced too

If there is video evidence, then you can review the footage to find the time! Idk why they make it “DNF”

comp organizers should put a folded pice of cardstock right under the batteries in the door so they don’t come loose
