The Helldivers 2 player count has been steadily decreasing over the months, seeing its largely percentage decrease over the last 30 days in particular. In this video we make the case that the player exodus is tied to the ongoing approach to game balance.

This game died due to nerfing and balances instead of fixing bugs in the games.

The most annoying thing is they nerf the drop pod damage, so you can't even kill bile titan by dropping directly on it now during reinforcement. It was so much fun in the beginning taking out bile titan with the drop pod as a last resort, now it's just tanking a literal oversized orbital bullet for no reason.

-even day 1 bugs and issues still exists
-constant crashes and disconnect since day 1
-nerf main guns and stratagems to the sh*tter
-banned in 100+ countries
-from weekly 250k-300k players to only 90k and declining

Dont wanna complain more, corpo d.riders will come for me

A lot of people are leaving because of the technical issues and the constant nerfs that do nothing but ruin the fun of a PvE game.

Also the Sony stuff killed some of the player count.

They focused too hard on the game being “not easy” instead of just letting people have fun. The devs need to stop sniffing their farts and doing victory laps and fix the game.

Game was damn near perfect at launch aside from a few optimization issues and bugs. With each patch however, the game just gets worse and worse. I stopped playing after the Quasar Cannon nerfs. I will definitely go back once the so called "Balance Team" gets their shit together.

The real reason everyone left is because the game went from bugs and bots at the mercy of helldivers to helldivers at the mercy of bots and bugs

The game has gotten consistently worse with every patch while the loop remained the same.

I think people really need to open their eyes and see what is beinf said here. Ermz is not saying "I told you so!".
Rather, he like many other fans of HD2 are just gobsmacked at piss poor way AH has handled their game so far.
We want the game to succeed, more than AH would like.
So this is a call for all fans of the game to appeal to AH to listen to the community who actually play the game.

After you unlock everything, and especially once you hit the sample / medal / req cap. There's literally no reason to keep playing, same couple of maps / missions, literally zero progression or rewards aside from some arbitrary level that does zero past level 25. Ugh.

Called it on the very 1st nerf, even tho a lot of folks (dummies) kept yapping "..it's necessary..".. oh it feels good to be right indeed, but at what cost??? I would rather be wrong about this, and have my friends and even a lot of randos to play w/.. "lives and dies by its player base" has never been more true...

The community saved this game only for the devs to nerf it into the ground.

I've unlocked everything, and I still jump in solely to have fun blasting things. The fun being nuked by the balance team is starting to grind everyone's gears. HD1 was immense fun. It never stopped being fun. This nonsense from the balance team needs to be addressed before the game's population just implodes completely.

They had a golden base. If they had just focused on new mission and story content instead of starting a balancing crusade that took the fun out of the game, and flooding it with weapons and items in warbonds no one wants, this game could have had a golden future. Just when I got skilled with a loadout, it was destroyed the next patch, while no new content came. This dev direction for me was the death of HD2, once my favorite game.

The git gud crowd has been annoying ever since the first dark souls got popular. In Dark Souls however you can at least argue that PVP is playing a role and generally the game allows for great skill expression.

Helldivers 2 however is supposed to create fun chaotic memories with many unpredictable elements and lacks PVP but of course because it got popular enough the "hardcore" players came in and started shouting.

These people will never understand that they are not enough to support a game or that they are killing games by driving away the generall audience. They will literally hit you with shit like "why should they only cater towards you?" When you ask the devs to stop taking away our fun.

What frustrates me is that a lot of “sweat lords” were defending the nerfs on discord and it took a hailstorm of complaints for the CEO to take notice and actually step in, because there is evidence the dev team just doesn’t care about what’s fun. My biggest fear for the game is that it will eventually fall into obscurity. Only the ultra dedicated will remain, in a small area, back in the corner of the gaming space.

Always said it, the devs are idiots. They learned nothing from the other countless games that meddled with their balance and died because of it. The whole community told them to buff and not nerf and they gave us a shit reason for not doing so.

Haven't played much since they nerfed my Eruptor. I got fed up with the amount of bugs being added after each patch while the balance team seemingly wanted to make primary weapons as useless as possible. It also doesn't help that in terms of progression I have nothing to work towards either.

Patrol update was the final straw. Having a rougher time clearing new hard solo than old helldive solo, it's insane. Friends and I have lives and I'd rather just not play the game than play with randoms. Such a wild decision to me to effectively kick an entire section of your playerbase in the nuts for no reason other than analytics saying people are winning too much. Then say "it was always supposed to be like that we just happened to not release it like that and waited 3 months to change it" and after backlash recant with "oops it was a bug thats why the patrols broke its not our fault were working really hard on it and the other bugs from launch and brought on from each patch". Its a constant cycle of "fixing" things and then back tracking when nobody likes it and deflecting blame on bugs and poor communication while a core group hopefuls sing their praises for the minimum. The ship is sinking and instead of fixing the holes they're repainting it and blaming the water.

Oddly enough, I had that same..."meh, not today" feeling the last week. Then I just logged on and just started trying out meme builds on Hard. The loop is still good once I finally get into a match, but I definitely don't care about the galactic war anymore. Also, Needing what's basically 40m+40m+15m every night to just gain a minuscule amount of a liberation points is just not great, especially with the dropping player count.
