I usually pour the water out into the tub. Another way is to use a shop vac.

So sorry this happened but, I can't stop laughing. Why? Because it happened to me the 1st time I removed a toilet! I laughed then too! Thanks for sharing. God bless.

Always always always do a final flush after the water is cut. Then, have a contractor grade bag rolled open on the floor next to the toilet. Place toilet AFTER the final flush in garbage bag for a DRY plumbing job 😉.
BTW. Thank you for one of the best laughs I've had in years. Brought me some memories from helping pops as a kid.

Oh sh…oe! Once the water is turned off, you can use plunger to force remaining water down drain. Saves your shoes 😎

2 Things to do when removing a toilet:
1). Place the old toilet into a large garbage bag, to avoid drips!
2). Stuff a large rag into the Drain Pipe, to stop gases from entering into the place.

That was funny. Glad you were able to laugh too. And wow are you strong!

A trick I borrowed from a plumber is to use a shop vac to clear the water out of the base / trap, and tank.

I bought a cheap BucketHead vac from HD and keep it setup for liquids, makes it super convenient to use and doesn't use much space.

LOL I've watched a lot of you tube renovation videos and they always use a heavy duty garbage bag. Thanks for your honesty! LOL

I used those packets that turn the water into gel. Worked really well.

The last toilet I bought came with a little packet of stuff that you sprinkle on the last little bit of water left in the toilet. In a few minutes it actually turns it to a gel. Great stuff!

I use a wagon and put rags on the bottom. Works good. Nice video!

I bought a small boat hand pump. I pump out the tank and the bowl into a bucket. Works great!

I placed a garbage bag on a floor, set toilet on top and picked everything up...water went into the trash bag.

Water is stuck in the trap. Before moving any distance, put it over (or rest it on) a container (tub, 5 gallon bucket, garbage can) and tilt it back so the water runs out of the trap into the container. A view from the side shows the path of the dirty water out of the toilet.

Nice to see that you have the same issues as everyone else when we do-it-ourselves.

I do this at least once a week. Use a small transfer pump, I also use a heavy duty garbage bag and bag the toilet.
