FAIL How Not To Remove An Electrical Outlet #spark

ALWAYS turn your breaker off when working on electrical. In this case I’d love to say I was trying to show you what NOT to do… But I was just being overly confident and thought I could speed up this kitchen demo by removing the outlet. Thought I’d just “be careful”. Well the house was a little bit older and they used metal housings for the outlets and the screw made contact with the live wires and well you see how it turned out. Only good thing is that this tripped the breaker and I now knew which circuit this outlet was on.

No honey, I didn't short out that box. I was creating a teachable moment for my YouTube followers.

Wrap the plug with electrical tape if it's going in a metal box or you could have just used a cut in box

The background exasperated noise was a little dramatic.

It wasn’t that big of a spark.
