"Folk magic isn't necessarily completely always backed by science, but more backed by the collective experience of a community, also a hereditary experience" I love this so much <3

I am SO excited to find you on YouTube! I have been seeking Northern German and Danish magic practices. My ancestors come from Schleswig-Holstein, Jutland, western Ireland, Scotland and England. I can find a lot from the British Isles, but not so much from Germany. So—I appreciate you!! Thank you!!

This is super helpful and interesting! Your guidance to look at Germany as a collection of disparate regions with their own cultures, ethnic groups and belief systems has led to a lot more in-depth thought on my part of what exactly "German" means and what exactly "German folk magic" means, so thank you so much for sharing this important information in English. The German part of my mom's family seems to come from a region of Bavaria right on the border with Czechia (Cham) so it's been very interesting to learn a lot more about the land and the people beyond just the vague, broad view we tend to have about Germany here in North America. Learning lots more every day!

This is an AMAZING video! I agree with everything so much, these are such great introductory points to German Folk Magic! Centering a tree or saint/spirit, the whispering, the boasting, everything! I also love that you mentioned the Google Maps trick because I do that all the time!

Wow wow wow wow wow!!! You are speaking directly to me. Thank you. I am of German heritage in America and have been struggling to connect deeper with German folk heritage. Thank you so much for verbalIzing these research steps. You are making it all so much easier and obvious.

I live near the Bavarian Forest area and right where we live there's a spot where trees were planted in a circle. These trees are tall, old and powerful trees like rowan, oak, and elders. The energy inside that circle is very strong. I wonder who planted these trees and what it was used for.

What fascinates me a lot about German Folk magic or folk magic in general it branches from the origin. I am in America part of my German heritage is from the Pennsylvania Dutch which they their own folk traditions and stemming from German folk magic Frau Holle is a common deity evoke in the spells. 15:25 I never thought about that before that can be very helpful!

I love this! I have traced my fathers lineage back to Ober-Seeman, Hessen Germany. So this was interesting to hear! Also it helped answer some questions about spells I have been thinking about. Thank you!

This helps me SO much! My Great Grandma was from Germany but we don’t know much of where she came from or our family history, but I needed a starting place to digging into my ancestral practices.

Hello. thank you for that video. It is really interesting. Beautiful to see someone living the tradition.
I grew up in East Germany, near the polish and slovakian border. The traditions there are influenced by slavish and sorbian culture. As a child my grandmother used to tell me the old folk stories and believes. I was really fascinated by these stories which were a mixture of kind of fairy tales, folk believes and stories about home and nature spirits and traditions.
I really feel it is crucial to connect with the land you live on. We have many sacred or highly energetic places in Europe and Germany. All over Germany there are some ancient places found with stone circles or stone figures (Externsteine, Sonnenheiligtümer and so on) or where you can still find some connections. I think it has a lot to do if you open yourself up to see the ancient traditions and the spirits and energies around you.

I really agree with you on so much things. I find it helps to read the lore of your region, about the traditional clothing and the customs and if there are some specific regional traditions on sabbats and so on.

I sometimes find it kind of hard to find german traditions and the old knowledge. A lot has vanished or has been banished. So thank you for the video and the advice on doing the research. It is really helpful. Looking forward to more of your videos about german folk magic.

Some fairytale collectors get started with from the region I am from (Heidelberg) are Bernhard Baader, and Johan Karl August. Though August did pose his collection in satire. I'm sure there's more out there, but that's where I am now.

I love that this has taught me how much folk magic practice has just come to me naturally. Some things I did not get taught, but they just came naturally and I have always questioned myself. Watching this has shown me that there was a reason I practice the way I do. It is awesome to think that my ancestors in a way teach me through my own genetic memory. I suppose.... Not sure how to word it. But thank you for making this video :)

Can anyone suggest where to go to get information on German folk magic (other than this video)
My family carries the name Hiltz (aka Hilts) and I would love to learn the magical practices of my ancestors
