To perform the glute figure 4 stretch:

1. Sit on the ground with your knees bent up. Cross the leg you want to stretch over the other with the ankle at the top of the knee in a figure 4.
2. Lean forward until you feel a stretch. Hold the stretch.

Thank you for the video. I read about the figure 4 technique that I can use with a foam roller but the instructions were confusing. Now I understand.

I have added this one to my routine however i do it laying down due to slow healing herniated lumbar disc. Does it change the effectiveness at all? It feels beneficial in my hips. Thanks Doc!

On some of your videos you say to hold the stretch for a count of 30. Is it still of benefit if I can only hold for a count of 15; maybe gradually increase to 30 sec?

Believe you have stated that tight glutes can/might produce hip and/or knee instability. How does this relate to "dead butt"? Would have thought that "dead butt" indicates weak glutes, but seem to find an overlapping of the videos.. Inquiring mind likes to know.TIA
