Beginner quilter here. I have such a hard time sewing the X into my squares. I dont have a walking foot for the sewing machine I use either. I actually borrow the sewing machine from an older lady who cant use it any more. That being said. I used cotton instead of cuddle material on top with flannel lining on the inside. I didnt cut the backing into squares though because like I said I have no walking foot.I sewed the squares together just as you showed. and connected each row. I am a very cold person so I added a layer of batting in between the flannel and the fleece I used for my backing before sewing the outter part for ragging. This is by far the best project I have ever done by myself. I just started doing DIY projects when I found out we"re expecting our first baby and I want her room to look AWESOME! I hate when people say they have the same set up I have...but now when I have people over and they ask about the blankets or curtains  or even pillows I can say nope I didnt get them from a store...I MADE THEM! Thanks so much for helping this beginner create a design that feels like home!

I always cut my edges 1/8th of an inch. Also it helps to run a butter knife over your edges before washing. If you are making a full size quilt-- best to wash at the laundromat so you don't clog your washer. I had a new HE washer the first time and clogged my washer drain. I now have an old washer that works wonderfully-- but I still knife all items and shake them like crazy before washing.

Love it...I like the minky on front and back ..some make these with flannel on the back and that is hard fabric and tends to look old after the second wash . One thing you forgot to mention was not to add liquid softner when washing this blanket you may want to use dryer sheets and to wash on cold ...Thanks for the awesome video

Since cuddle cloth was not available nearby me so i tried using other type of cloth and the quilt turned out amazingly like yours…
