It's my bike and I forgot to tell Matt that the tires also have Tannus Armour liners in them too. I don't want to have any concerns about flatting on my way to work. I'm upgrading my Trek Top Fuel 9.9 to the RSL wheelset, so my carbon Line Pro 30's will be my mtb wheelset for the Roscoe 9. That left the stock Roscoe wheels for commuting. I think the last upgrade for the Roscoe 9 will be carbon handlebars and maybe a blue Raceface stem.

cutting the bar down for commuting is one of the best upgrades. I cut my 10mm rise raceface atlas bar down to just 720mm even shorter than recommended by raceface but it feels so good. helps with riding position on my hardtail as well.

For commuting, I recommend a light-weight fast-rolling set of gravel tires. I use the Panaracer GravelKIng SK tires; fast on pavement but still hook up well on easy singletrack.

I chopped 2" off my bars and it made a huge difference for me, arms were way too wide and bike never felt 'playful'. Added SE Racing Speedster tires to my 27.5 rims, don't fully lock out front fork, and my Fezzari HT is wicked on concrete and asphalt!. I have red accents (valve stems, bottle cage and Deity pedals) with the dropper down it looks like a SICK DJ! I love it. Thanks for posting Matty.

Good idea about having back up rims for commuting. I’m guessing that it would have to have similar range for the derailleur and a through axle though.

Thanks a million for the info, especially on the tires. I have an X-Cal-8 and am 70 years old. I also plan to use it as a commuter. Thanks again.

Curious how much work to swap tires. Weekly commute vs weekend trails. If you ever try please make one of your vlogs.

I got the same bike and I rode off and on road ..I took .875 or 7/8 off the total length of my handle bars...way way more responsive...I love them ...cheers 🇨🇦

Yeah, the bottle cage matches the fork caps. Nice work

Great content, not just because we get to understand the bike but also the places you ride, I live in London so great to see parts of Colorado UNITED STATES and you come across like as a real respectful kind of guy, keep up the good work ✌️

Love this!! I'm enjoying my 2021 Roscoe 8 before they changed to the new frame style but I already converted it from that weird 27.5 size to Kovee Comp elite 29's. Made it feel like a normal bike again. I tried to like 27.5 and it just felt too small for me. I'm 6 ft on a L frame. Once I get my full suspension, this will get road tires and a slight change in gearing. I've already done 30+ miles tow path on it pretty comfortably with Maxxis Recons

Yah it was college graduation this week :) Definitely makes the area crowded haha! But a good time to make peoples day with wheelies!!

7:57, ha! As regards to commuter tires for a hardtail, I wish maxxis would make 29 hookworms or griffter tires with Tubeless ready (and not wider than 2.1), because it's a downgrade to go back to tubes when you live in a city full of glass and special materials for punctures. As long as they still make the Maxxis Pace tubeless ready, I'm happy to commute with those, and you got great of wheelies with those tires. In my hybrid I got Continental GP 5000 for commuting... ha... they are the fastest rolling tire I have ever had, you fly commuting with those tires. Yup, to commute with slick tires it's fun, but I wish they were more TR options.

Grifters work great as a gravel lite tire so yes a series adventures with Roscoe would be neat! Schwalbe has the Big Apple and G-One series of tires in that size+width too.

I haven't had my Roscoe out on the trails yet due to jacking up my knee doing something else, but it's a silly fun bike on pavement. I just can't help but smile riding it. It's ridiculously comfortable and somehow manages not to feel long at all. I'm not a fan of bikes that feel like there is a lot out behind me.

For commuting especially, I'd suggest throwing some bar ends on the bike for a second hand position. Bar ends are the best $25-$50 you can spend on a flat-bar bike you ride on the pavement. Let me clarify this-after you change the mountain bike tires for something which rolls faster.

i commute with my mtb tires as i want to through a few gravel paths on my commuting. I was kinda obsessed with rolling resistance in the beginning, untill i found rolling resistance just shrugs a few minutes off my 50 minute commute ride. Still, haven't gone completely city tires, so the difference between maxxis rekon, pirelli scorpion and maxxis dhf/dhr problaby was too small. You need a back up rim+chain+cassette if you want to do this efficiently, other wise the weekends will be longer due to switching... not forgetting the mess from tubeless.

I’m gonna get me a second set of rims for my Roscoe and use these tires when I want to do some riding around town. Thanks for the video.

I commute on RaceKing 29 x 2.2's front and rear. Very fast and grippy.

Matty Check out the Maxxis hookworms even faster on the pavement an they are best for swerving on them wheelies.
