The Comic Book History Of Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider)

In this episode of the History Of series, our superhero expert, Aaron Waller, explains the comic book origin of a viewer suggested character, Marvel's hoodie-wearing Spider-Man and Spidey clone, Ben Reilly aka the Scarlet Spider.

Ben has not made his way into live-action as of yet but he has been in comics since 1975 and has not only been the Scarlet Spider but would also eventually fully take up the mantle of Spider-Man.

This is a great video, tho I wish you recommend the ongoing Ben Reilly: Spider-Man series, Spider-Man: The Lost Years and Spider-Man: Redemption. Those were way better than Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider, and I’d argue that BR: SS almost ruined Ben

I like Ben Riley more than Peter because he is a more realistic/flawed person. Especially we he stars changing his looks to distinguish himself more from Peter. BUT the clone saga was a mess and clone stories don't work super well, so outside of an animated series I don't know tjat it is on the cards to make a run at it.

Yikes is putting it lightly. They did a directors cut, if you will, of the Clone Saga a few years back. It was a more concise story and the ending was different than published.
