This why we get so happy when an actor confesses they're a fan of the character they're playing

This needs to be adapted into either a movie or a tv series so that it can be seen everywhere to how comic creators have been treated for the longest time

That's why Deadpool 2016 is such a good movie translation, Ryan was trying to make a Deadpool movie for so long because it felt like he actually cares for the comic book character

Didn’t the guy who made the Thor movies say he hadn’t even read Thor comics at all. So this really fits.

"Superhero movies are our modern mythology" could've sworn I heard that line before somewhere.

The sad reality of the relationship between comics and Hollywood makes me incredibly grateful for actors like Downey, Hamill, Boseman, and even those dudes who made Clone High and now work on Spider-verse because their projects would be NOTHING without them and others actually respecting and loving the stories they build on

Steve Ditko comes to mind, being a vital part of the industry but in life he never really got what he deserved or even wanted until he went indie, but even that was more of an underground thing away from all the glitz and glamour of his former repute

This is a pretty true comic. And here's a real view on the realistic aspects of this. When Hugh Jackman was asked to play Wolverine, he thought he was literally going to be an animal. He showed app and he didn't even know who Wolverine from the x men was yet. He continued to play the character, not knowing who this popular character was that was around way before his career and made his career. True story

Spiderman was not a good example we all cried when Stan Lee died

Actors who actually loved comics and pushed back on producers made their characters more iconic and loved in the end - henry cavills superman, ryan reynolds deadpool, all 3 spidermen, and im gonna throw in inaki godoy as luffy as a manga adaption...when a character is actually treated the way it deserves those adaptions have done well cause it lives up to expectations

I’m a bigger DC guy than Marvel but I loved both since a kid. When Stan Lee died & his daughter said Disney didn’t treat him good, other fans said Disney did treat him good because they put him in their movies. They wouldn’t have those movies if it weren’t for him & others. And just bc they publicly loved him doesn’t mean he was always treated that way. A multi billion dollar company I can easily see them having a show pony but behind closed doors they treat them less than dirt. I can see that.

Thanks for shining a spotlight on this.

I can't remember if it was Joe Schuster for Jerry Siegel that this story is referring to, but after selling the rights to Superman, one of them was found as a bellow minimum wage usher at a New York movie theater showing Richard Donner's Superman movie.

And this is why every single piece of Batman media says "Batman created by Bob Kane" in big letters. He planned for this.

That’s why I feel Stan Lee was incredibly lucky to get the recognition he got before passing

Reminds me a lot of how Sebastian Stan admitted he loved the Winter Soldier, read the comics and was pushing for more plot lines where he was involved but then wound up getting sidelined and used as a plot device in the end. Even in Infinity War where he was heavily advertised he didn't have more than 2 minutes of screen time.

Steve Ditko. Jack Kirby is a close second. Jack is the one who actually designed Spidermans costume
