This device makes scaling big trees a piece of cake... Now this farmer from Karnataka, Bantwal Komale Ganapathi Bhat, 51, has attracted the interest of influential people like Anand Mahindra and social media users with his idea. He created a novel innovation called a "Areca bike" to assist farmers in climbing tall areca palms quickly and has since adapted the farm machinery to assist farmers in climbing other trees as well. The device is made to make it very easy for farmers to climb trees. It may be spun both clockwise and anticlockwise 360 degrees. One can climb about 70–80 coconut trees with a litre of gasoline and a comfy seat. It is lightweight (about 45 kg) and comes with a trolley, making it simple to move.Though anyone can single-handedly fix the machine to a tree, having someone to help will be an added advantage. It takes about one minute to fix the bike to a tree and another minute to climb. The device costs Rs 1.55 lakh, but with subsidy, it costs only Rs 1.12 lakh.
