This film should help you understand the complexity behind fast starts.

Focusing on the relation between accelerator and clutch input, and the 4 possible outcomes you can expect.

I like how you explain things. Your accent makes it sound so calm and easy to focus.

Been learning manual for about a month now with my car. I don't regularly stall anymore but it still happens from time to time. I find the more I think about what my feet should be doing the worse I drive and the more likely I am to stall. If I just relax and don't think to much, its smooth and quick take off every time. Did it today but luckily I was in front of an older gentleman in an audi who was understanding 😅

I stalled in a very awkward place. I relax and sort myself out. I add gas slightly and raise my clutch gently as I can and add gas more

I having trouble with this right now. I’m in America too so ppl don’t understand how manual cars work. Was practicing this at like 4 in the morning and was at a stoplight about to take a left hand turn. The person behind me got impatient and went in front of me while I was going and almost cause an accident since they were also doing a left hand turn. I didn’t even take that long too, about 2 seconds longer than if I was in an automatic car.

Driving instructors taught me to hold the clutch at biting point and be ready so I can move fast, and here it's a handbrake start ...but my friend said no that's going to wear the clutch and he advised ..to leave the handbrake off, put gear at neutral..and use the brake to stop at traffic light, then it's the clutch only to worry about when to start. But what I found the best is That people need to wait and be considered for those who still learning. I prefer to stop everything gear in neutral, handbrake on, feet off everything and relax my legs, then take my time to start ...I don't understand why people are in hurry always ..of course I end up panic n car stalls :-) but with time I got used of people shouting n looking at me in strange way...and I laugh

The best thing is when u stop and put it back to 1st take ur clutch to the biting point before u need to so its ready to go, keep ur foot on the brake tho then when its time to move, ur clutch is ready to go so just apply some gas and let the clutch out

Thanks for the video man! So I didn’t have very much experience of driving a stick shift before, but I’ve been practicing all the time, particularly the set off part from standstill which I wanted to get faster on it and be more proficient! I got a question here, however, that confused me a while which I figured you might be able to shed me some light on it! I know that for moving off faster you can rev the engine to 1K-1.5K RPM before letting go of the clutch, but when I did that while keeping the clutch at the biting point, I could feel an obvious vibration presumably between my engine and transmission for a little while, then it moves off smoothly. I was wondering would that vibration do some harm to the clutch and wear it down faster than it should be? Am I doing it in the wrong way? If so, how should I fix it out and make it back on track? Thank you guys!

I usually do both at the same time, I lift my clutch the the bite and press the gas pedal at the same time.

You said - its impossible to stall if we need enough gas, but what if we release clutch too quickly with this action, do we stall or move with hiccups? Thanks

This is why starting on a steep hill can actually be easier in less power cars. You just floor it while smoothly engaging the clutch. Unless the torque is so low you can't move much of course. 🤣

i have a 1.9 TDI GOLF 5, 105BHP, FWD, how do I move off fast ? Rev to lets say 2500 and keep it there and release the clutch until the biting point and then keep it at the biting point for how long until I release ?
