Great video....very digestible for the layman who wants to learn more about cervical spine function (espeically when suffering from neck pain and consulting numerous medical professionals).

6:20 there is no C1-C2 disc
12:08 I think the sliding is a side effect of the upper unco joint rolling over the lower joint
16:46 it's actually the right alar ligament that's taut in right rotation, not the left one.

Very well explained. Very interesting and informative lecture! One question though, how do the uncinate processes split the discs from back to front if they are located laterally?

I did not quite get the take, if UV arthrosis happens, which movements to be careful of.
The foramen stenose with arthrosis of that UV "joint", the lig flavum thickens.
So what can physio damage more, what can physio help with exactly those described movements.

Many seem to harm more than do good.

My friend has now severe disc prolapse C6/7 and foramen stenosis with those UV arthrosis.
She was always sent for her pain to physios and chiropractic therapy. They all cracked and manipulated her cervical spine and now finally an MRI showing it was utterly counterproductive.

Seeing these fine differences and where more stress in movement happens, makes me actually question the way we treat patients with "neck pain" doing generalised physio and chiro in a very delicate space.

How can we protect our discs and UV joints?

I don't get it, Kevin? Why show images of lumbar vertebrae when you're talking about the cervical spine?

Nice, clear explanation.
Far too many ads. Few ok, but constantly....

Only thing: 6:40...these are not all 3 x-rays.
As we can see here in ...a histological slice.
The other a real bone or cast preparation
X-ray is on the right top only..

AGREE WITH EVERYTHING SAID ON THIS VIDEO OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT HE MENTIONS THAT UNCOVERTEBRAL JOINT IS NOT A SYNOVIAL JOINT. UV JOINTS ARE INDEED SYNOVIAL JOINTS. THEY DO NOT CONTAIN A JOINT CAPSULE, HOWEVER, IT DOES CONTAIN SYNOVIAL FLUID STILL, THEREFORE, MAKING IT SYNOVIAL.
