In this video, I get to explore the incredible world of TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) I sit down (and tremor/shake) with Dr. David Berceli, the founder of TRE. TRE is an exceptional approach that helps the body release deep-seated stress, tension, and trauma through a series of specific exercises to trigger the body's natural tremor response.

Dr. Berceli, a world-class expert in trauma intervention and conflict resolution, has meticulously crafted these exercises based on his extensive knowledge and experience.

In this video, we delve into the unique philosophy behind TRE, unpack its transformative potential, and shed light on how it can help you on your journey to healing and well-being. Dr. Berceli's insights are invaluable for anyone seeking to understand trauma, its impact, and ways to alleviate it.

Safety Information:
Do not practice this breathwork during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. People with cardiovascular issues, or any other serious health conditions, should always consult a medical professional before starting breathwork. These breathing exercises are a guide only, you should always listen to your own body and not push yourself, if you feel unwell STOP. Never practice breathing exercises before or during diving, driving, swimming, taking a bath, or in any other circumstance where the loss of consciousness could result in bodily harm. Deep breathing may cause tingling sensations, a ringing in the ears, and/or light-headedness. These are normal responses and are no cause for alarm. If you faint, however, you have gone too far and should take it more slowly next time.

This works. I know cause I tried it. And from the first session my body knew this is the path to healing.
It adresses the bodily side (often not understood) of trauma. After every word about your past has been spoken out and thought through a million times, this will help you to integrate your whole being. It costs nothing. Its a heavenly gift.

I discovered this mechanism on my own doing hours of body scan meditation because I intrinsically knew it was all stored in my body and I could access it and it needed loving attention. I would go with the tremors for a while but they'd get so intense and sometimes painful! I was scared it was something I shouldn't be doing even though my body was telling me it wanted to make these movements. So relieving coming across this video. People are asking about exercises, for me I would just pay close attention to the sensations in my body and I could feel an urge to make certain movements so I simply gave into the urge! So simple, so incredible how our bodies are designed. Our bodies are urging us to heal, and they're providing very clear instructions!

My body acted similar to what you show in this video. Amazing feeling and I also got a primal scream. Thank you for sharing 💜

I’m a big fan of your content and I’m a huge advocate for TRE and somatic practices but I’m not a fan of portraying the idea that you can release life long trauma in 20 minutes, or a one hour session etc. Everyone is obsessed with quick fixes when it comes to trauma but it doesn’t work like that. It takes time to address, create safety internally and for the body to release in its own timeline. So many people internalise a sense of shame and failure when they come away from something like this because they didn’t release everything in one go. Healing takes TIME especially when it comes to trauma and quite honestly the word has become so diluted. It effects everyone differently. Perhaps I’m just not a fan of the way this video is worded given the amount of clients I have seen who have high expectations of themselves to heal quickly (myself included on my own journey). I think it’s important to be responsible with your wording around trauma, given it’s such a huge topic. But I will give this episode a listen

Absolutely fascinating! Love this, as a practitioner I always say the body remembers everything. Have you read the book ‘the body keeps the score’, it’s something we all need to know. Great to have you back on the channel Mike, hope you can do more in conversations again. ❤

I had a strange experience recently where during a meltdown/shutdown, my body moved how it wanted on its own. I writhed just like a snake, then felt better.

I thought I was the only one who experienced this - it started happening with me organically when I was doing other therapies and I never knew what was happening, only that I felt better afterwards. I didn’t know there was a thing called TRE but I can tell you this is 100% real if you can access it. It took many years of other healing practices for this to happen for me. Now it’s the only therapy I do mostly because it just happens on its own and I let it.

I was diagnosed with anxiety at 8 (am now 32), after having panic and anxiety attacks for years already. My parents would always be SO uncomfortable and worried as to why my entire body would convulse or shake when I would be having a panic attack or an anxiety attack (this is usually weeks long though). My body will spasm, twitch or shake in whatever way it needs to until I can calm myself down/surrender to the panic or anxiety. I used to fight it, but now I know how clever my body has always been and to just go with it <3

I was miss diagnosis with Suto Seizures yrs ago...and just been living with it sense then...Until I met my now boyfriend...he was the first person I ever met that was dealing with the same thing...but he called it a different word...TRE...when he described it and once I did a bit more research, I realized this is what I've been going through...Now I no longer look at it as a negative thing...and now know it's just a way my body regulates itself...I no longer fight it...and allow it to happen in a safe space..I love that I have someone I can just say it and do it and no to made to feel like theres something wrong with me ❤😊 cause when I explain it to other ppl they just look at me like Im crazy.

Btw...It works...Evem when I resisted it...I always...ALWAYS felt better after....More energy, clearer head space, calmer, better moods...sleep is better, etc.

There are no fast fixes for releasing deep trauma, I really wish our culture would stop selling this idea and start playing the long game. These are powerful techniques that will help, but not in one session .

My mother-in-law would have a stroke if she saw me in convulsions on the living room floor. My husband would laugh. No place in my house to do this alone.

Breath-work serves best to alleviate temporary moments of exhaustion, stress, anxiety, etc (as does mediation). I can't see how deeply rooted scars caused by past trauma can be resolved in 20 minuets. Thank you for the great work you do - I believe that for the most part it is sincere - but the title of this vid just seems a bit click-baity 😐

Hi Dr a question
I tried and absolutely love it. Feeling so relaxed and easy in my body
However, my body is shaking like crazy, turning me side to side with high intensity. I know what it is trying to fix but want to know if it is ok to let my body do whatever it feels right or I better control it ?
Thank you 🙏
