Been riding Shadow interlocks on both my bikes for the last 5 years and theyve never broken, kept their shape, havnt had to replace anything on them.Unless your running your chain really tight(which will ruin any chain)Shadow chains are pretty damn tough.I run my chains loose as hell and theyve held up for like 6 years before i ever broke a link.

The first half-link chain was the Interlock chain from The Shadow Conspiracy thanks to Byron Anderson and Ronnie Bonner.

I rode my supreme chain for over three years I eventually stopped riding because it stretched so bad that there was a crazy tight and then loose side. I love my interlock though. They don’t last as long but I just buy a new one once a year and it keeps my bike feeling good.

Tbh, half links have been around for a really long time in machine use. They just started being used in bmx in the last 20ish years or so.

Anyone remember the super thick 1/2” chains in the early 2000’s with the super thick sprockets? The chain alone weight over a pound.

That explanation was spot on with teaching old dogs like me. Right on brother

This was helpful you should do a video on frames with stepper headtube with stepper forks or how to setup chain tensioner on your bike

Thanks! Just to clarify, if you cut a link on your chain, the rear hub will get forward half the length of a link. You would need to cut two links to push it forward one link length. That's because you have half of the length above the sprockets and half below them, so, what you said about the dropouts being one link long is partially true. You can still get the chain to size, but yeah, half link allows you to be more precise.

one thing worth mentioning is that the shadow supreme is a lot thicker than other chains, so it may have a difficult time fitting between hub and its guard, or in a sprocket with a guard. I have mine for about 4 years now and its still in a really good shape. very streched though

I've had my Park Tool chain breaker since 2004. Great investment.

Individual half links for 1/8 " chains have been in bicycle shops as a problem solver long before BMX bicycles became available.

I used a KMC 415H Chain 1/2" x 3/16" mid school bmx fat chain in 2004 to 2007 indestructible concrete metal no mater what I didn’t brake it. It was incredible but really heavy
