PART 2 to 'Extinction Events Nobody Talks About'
I've extensively discussed the ‘Big 5’ Mass Extinctions on my channel, but there have been MANY other mass extinctions through Earth’s history, and in this video, I go over all the major mass extinctions in earth’s past that rival the big 5 mass extinctions in terms of magnitude or species lost and ecological severity.

I really do like the trilobite hat. I just bought a new hat though, it has an embroidered message that reads "I'm not dead. This is just how I look.", but I'm gonna have to put some more "hat money" aside now. Trillian, my Emotional Support Trilobite also saw the hat, and now won't stop talking about it.

Another terrific vid Rachel. Your diagrams particularly help, preventing my head from spinning. It’s like drinking from a firehose.

I love how at the end of the video she starts a bit on "if you want to contribute ..." I was thinking she was leading into a pitch for her Patreon or merch store, but no; she was making a pitch for becoming a scientist and contributing to the world's body of knowledge on this topic.

I love hearing from Editing Rachel! She's so knowledgeable about the big picture, she seems like a time traveler -- a very useful skill in this field I'm sure.

THREE mass extinctions during the Late Devonian? Earth can be really unfriendly to life sometimes!

It's nice to learn about the Serpukhovian extinction event! Thanks!

Thanks for the video! To me as a lay-person it's remarkable how many cycles of extinction there actually have been. Is there any estimate yet as to when our Phanerozoic will end and do we know what the next one would be called? Just kidding, that might sound dumb but if you coin a phrase now you may be cited forever! Anyway thanks!

It's about time someone did a video on the lesser known mass extinction events.

Thank you for such a Such a Super Smart presentation! Im sure im not the only one who admires your intelligence! Keep up the great work Doc!
NB, I know you mentioned in the past you have not graduated with your PhD yet but it's probably good to start practice using Dr. Before you do maybe =) Oh, and dont forget to have that "Good bye "Ms." & hello "Dr." Party" before you graduate. Silly but fun 😊 I wish I would have had one. Keep up the great work

Have you made any videos on geodes and how they are formed? I live in Kentucky, where we have tons of geodes. I'd absolutely love to see you make a video on the topic, if you haven't already. I could even send samples of the geodes that I've found that you could showcase, if you wanted. No charge at all and you could keep them and don't even have to credit me for them at all. Free of charge. That is, if you'd want to do that. No worries if not. I just really want to see a video on them is all so that I can show people how they're formed and what types can be found and where. Yours the best at explaining these types of things and I apologize if I missed one that you've posted already. Thanks and have a wonderful day! 😃

A concise but good summry of most of the major "non-big-five" Paleozoic and Mesozoic mass extinctions. Good job!

I wonder where the various Cambrian mass extinctions, not to mention the presumed late Ediacaran mass extinction, would sit on the list you provided at the end of the video.

Of course, the data are scanty that far back, but I have to think that they would certainly be on the list, most likely on the top half of the list.

I think an interesting video, that would relate to this topic, would be the chemical evolution of benthic sea life from the Permian to the Triassic. Specifically the evolution of calcium carbonate structures to Aragonite skeletal structure.

It’s crazy how dramatic the sea floor ecosystem changed between the late Permian till the early Cenozoic.

Even fish and marine reptile evolution at that time till the end of the Cenozoic is pretty interesting.

Thanks for the terrifically informative, easy-for-us-laypeople to understand video. Such a fascinating topic, in my opinion.

Wonderful videos! I wonder where the current extinction event, the Holocene Extinction, will ultimately rank?
