The Canon 6D (Mark 1) is a workhorse of a camera, but it's so old - is it still worth getting one in 2018?
Would you consider getting one??

Is it still relevant?Yes.
It is a full frame dslr.
Great quality of photographs.
Great in low light.
Durable in all conditions and weather.
Center focus point super fast.

5d and 5d mark 2 are relevant too..There are no bad DSLRs..they are all good.
Problem is that many vloggers are always talking about the newest latest and greatest gear, so someone might think that the old ones are bad.Yeah, they don't have the latest specs, or things like more focus points, gps, wifi, bluetooth etc...but that doesn't mean that they lack in making great photographs. And they are super cheap now.

I used a 500D for 9 years and just upgraded to the 6D. Bought it new for €800. Awesome camera, great picture quality, especially in low light with high ISO.

I don't need many focus points (I only use the center point), I also don't need fast auto-focus because I shot portrait, fashion and landscape, with the canon camera connect app I don't need a flip touchcreen and I never captured a video.

6D is really the perfect camera for me.

Super satisfied user since 2013. I’d recommend it anytime.

I bought my 6D in 2013 and was quite horrified at the AF system compared to the 7D I was coming off of. However, learning how to work with being confined to the one single usable AF point in the middle of the viewfinder I've been able to get great results in all conditions and types of photography. It is a reliable and durable camera and still relevant in 2019 as long as you can pick one up super cheap.

In the last 10 years or more if a câmera has a good enough light, they all can do amazing images, even the cheapest ones. Since then the only thing that improved was their capacity to shoot in low light, and the 6D is very good in that aspect also, as are all full frames. It is a very good camera and there is no reason to believe it shouldn't be used for high level professional work. The only downside is that it has an old school focusing system, so it will be slower to compose and require some finesse from the photographer, but if they could do it 7 years ago we should be able to do it now.

I have had a 6d since 2012, for me it's only downfall is the single card slot. I do not use it for video. It's now almost 2019 and I do not see any current camera that makes me want to upgrade. It has fantastic image quality.

The 6D is an amazing camera. The price makes it a steal and it takes beautiful video and stills. I use the "Magic" hack download so I have focus peaking and Zebras. I have shot video for very high end corporate clients and have had outstanding results from the camera every time. I have used this camera on movie productions and TV series as well for shots that the Arri was just too big to use. It always works, never any issues for years. It has better video than the 5D iii and the Wifi makes it perfect for Instagram work. No pro videographer should discount having one.

The 6d mk1 was my first ff, I rent a 5d mkIII and was disapointed. Yes it only has nine af point but is very accurate in low light. My use : concert, dance in low light environment without any flash of course. 6400 iso raw shot are formalities, but except some sony a7s, which brand can exploit higher sensitivity today. Today the only thing better would be the dual pixel af and the tilt touch screen that misses. The 6d allows beautiful videos if you don't have to follow your subject but it's a camera first, not a video camcorder and you can use magic lantern for that. I own 2 6d mk1, I'll only sell one to acces video but I will will always keep the second one in my bag.

I agree. My 6D was purchased in 2014 and still going strong @ 100, 000+ shutter actuations.

However, the flash sync is getting a bit dodgy after getting wet. So thinking of a replacement, and still can't go past another 6D.

I'm a travel and street photographer, and a mirrorless doesn't work for me because of battery-life. I can keep the 6D on all day, and be able to take a shot in an instant.

Also the 6D Mk1 has better dynamic range than the 6D Mk2, don't take many movies so DPAF is not an advantage and have gotten used to the centre focus recompose technique. Just miss the flippy screen.

At the moment, it is half the price of a 6D Mk2.

Great video thanks. Definitely getting a Canon 6D as my first full frame camera and this video helped me in making that decision. Was this video filmed at Center Parcs in Woburn? :)

If you had a choice between a 5D Mark II and a 6D Mark I, which would you choose and why?

Hi, thanks for the inspiration and the nice video. I own a Canon 6D. I mainly shot landscapes, but over time I decided that I wanted to shoot other things as well. I also saw the weaknesses of this camera, one of which I think is the focus system. Now I want to get an EOS R6 because I have been interested in making videos for a year and I am still at the beginning of this process. I am trying to find somewhere concise content on this topic and a process to follow step by step. But until I buy a new camera, I thought that there is certainly a way to get the most out of the old one. The brakes I have with the 6D are that I do not have stabilization and I do not want to invest in one at the moment and now I am looking for information on how I can make videos with this camera without stabilization. I would be happy if I find on your channel how you used the camera for video.

Thanks for the video. I started in 2013 with Nikon, and recently switched to Canon by buying the 6D. So far so good, I'm really liking it.

I've a question though: many people recommend focus-and-recompose for 6D, as its center point is the most sensitive. How does this fare while using lenses wide open, at 1.8 or 1.4? Do you get the missed-focus look?

La canon 6D es una cámara "oldie" maravillosa hay que usarla para darse cuenta, yo la uso con un 28mm 1, 8, 50 mm 1, 8 y un 16/35 IS F4, y con el 40 mm 2, 8 ... es una máquina mágica que con poco $$ da mucho! saludos.
