The Move - Do Ya

I couldn't find a good quality version of this on Youtube, or anywhere on the internet, so I decided to play good samaritan, pay $2.16 on iTunes and share it with the world. "Do Ya", written by Jeff Lynne and sung by Roy Wood, by The Move from their 1971 album Messages from the Country, though I (strongly) prefer Electric Light Orchestra's 1976 cover.

Jeff Lynne's ELO played this last month at their concert at Kia Forum, Los Angeles. I finally fulfilled my dream to attend an ELO concert and it was SPECTACULAR.

Wow!!! It's weird to find out my favorite ELO song was originally from this band, but also cool to see it still kicks ass!!! Thank you for posting!

There are no bad versions of a song as good as this. Just great ones and phenomenal ones.

If Jeff Lynne only wrote "Do Ya", he still would belong in the RnR HOF

I dig this version more! The guitars are way more aggressive and the overall feel is so unhinged and cool.

This was the first version I heard back in 1972, but I only heard it once. When ELO's version came out in 1977 I immediately remembered it, but I'd forgotten how raw The Move's version was and then I find out the line-up in The Move and ELO was almost identical. Great song by both bands. Who's better? Who cares.

Don't need to be so elitist about the song on the comments, both versions have their merits. That being said, this one sure as hell rocks.

Roy Wood is definitely in there as there is a lap steel guitar playing, one of his many talents

There was a point in time where Sir Lynn and Mr. Wood played nicely together and what a time it was!!!

Heard the ELO version first, then found this decades ago.  The Move's version is still my favorite.  MUCH edgier.  Both are fine, though.  Will check out Rundgren's version.

Thanks for spending the money on iTunes. Seriously, I never knew The Move did this first. I owe you a beer, man.

WOW! Thank you sooo much for this! I bought this album when it came out strictly for this song and until stumbling across this, I've never found it on YouTube.

I remember the Move's version. It got some radio play when it came out on the then still 'deep cut' FM radio. Lynne did a nice remake with ELO but this is 'the one'

I heard this song was hung in litigation for 5 years. I was dying to hear it again in the 70s and it did come out again as you say in 1976. Roy Wood was quite the master when you consider this is D A G over and over ....
