Want to know the number one way to prevent hot car deaths from happening to your child? BELIEVE IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. Then come up with a prevention plan to make sure it never does!

Hot car deaths are 100% preventable. The Florida Department of Children and Families is here with some helpful strategies that will help you avoid tragedy.

▶️ ESSENTIAL ITEM IN BACK: Keys, phone, purse, left shoe. Something you know you will grab before you go.

▶️ STUFFED ANIMAL SWAP: Leave a stuffed animal in the car seat when your child isn’t in it. Put it in the front of the car with you so you see it before exiting the vehicle.

▶️ PAY ATTENTION: Many newer vehicles have built-in reminder systems. Don’t ignore them!

▶️ LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK: Get into this habit and do it on every single ride.

▶️ CHECK-IN: Have a planned check-in with your partner, school, or daycare around the time of drop-off for a double-check.

▶️ ALWAYS LOCKED: So a child can’t get in and not get out.

▶️ OUT OF REACH: Keep keys stored where little hands can’t get to them.
