I agree about vertical drops with everything EXCEPT the syringe. With the syringe, you’re measuring the actually volume and not counting how many drops. So I think it’s irrelevant if the drops with the syringe aren’t uniform.

I use Salifert test kits for my reef tank. I've never had any issues. For me, I have laminated the instructions of each kit. That way I don't have to be overly concerned with water damage.

Salifert test kits have always been the most consistent for me.

Agreed with the pre drop, the calcium bottle is a bit of a pain to do 10 consistent drops as the 1st always bubbles up. Also dont squeeze it too hard its 10 drops not 12 (been there)

After adding the powder, ideally the water should turn pink first. What does it mean when it turns dark blue immediately after adding powder. I have done the test numerous times correctly even did a trial with reg tap water that had less than 1 gh and used a test sample of water that i added magnesium. When testing it would still turn dark blue after addinv powder. Not pink. Could i have a bad test.

I disagree with no 3. Looking down, as instructed, through a few mm of liquid is VERY different than looking sideways through an inch.

It turns <2 nitrates into +100ppm for example. Sideways doesnt work.
