I loved that in Battlefield Hardline you could run up to medics and support class players and just take health and ammo off them rather than having to constantly request aid that would never come.

I miss two seater jets, having a teammate give you call outs to where the enemy jet is in a dogfight made things so much more intense

Fortifications were genius imo and didn't get the love they deserve. Gave people a reason to stay and defend an objective instead of just sprinting off. Also hugely increased the maps destruction as they could be blown up and rebuilt multiple times.

I loved the drop pods in 2142, they were great. When you spawned on somebodies spawn beacon, you would come down in a drop pod, so you had a view of the map coming in. Much better than just appearing on the map and getting filled with lead before you have a chance to look around.
From the other side, it was also cool because you could see the pods coming in and figure out where the enemy spawn beacon was.
There were some problems, like people figuring out how to skid across the map while in a pod, but that could easily be fixed by a new game.

squad leader ability wheel in BF5 was awesome and in my experience, reinforced teamwork (or rather squadwork ?) a lot. It was also just so very useful to drop smoke barrages or the likes to push enemy positions.

For battlefield hardline you forgot to mention that ability to draw your weapon Inside and outside of the vehicle that you're in, was really hoping they bring that back into battlefield 2042

I sometimes miss having all the vehicles spawn directly on the battlefield, even when they were not in use. It had its flaws, but I still liked it.

Loved the towing mechanic in BFV. Cruising around with a field gun on the back of a jeep and a squad mate firing at random stuff was great fun. The respawn camera was a must.

Titan mode in 2142 was such a blast! I would love to see that return to a game.

For BF1, you mentioned the cavalry class, but to expand on that, all vehicles/aircraft had their own dedicated classes, which were much weaker than primary classes (except for the cavalry class). Helped disincentivized bailing on your plane or tank prematurely.

Surprised I didn't see BF2's Battlefield Recorder mentioned. It was a feature that allowed you to review the game after it was done from any camera angle and record shots you (and other players) made, It was also really good for catching cheaters.

I really miss the BfV squad leader call ins. Calling for a v2 rocket was awesome. Another thing I miss about BfV is the player first person animations, from prone shooting on your back to jump proning sideways. But the most favorite part was that explosions threw you off!! You actually got thrown all over whenever big explosions occurred near by. Why was this featured

It’s crazy to me that they would try to add a commander role back in BF4 in a dumbed down version and then completely abandon it after. It was such a fun mechanic in BF2. Would love to see that return, as well as the communication between leaders and commander.

Battlefield's best forgotten feature was the hot-swap mechanic from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (The console port of Battlefield 2).
In the single player campaign you can swap to any soldier or vehicle in the level with the simple press of a button.
It felt like you were playing as a group of soldiers, not an individual.
DICE teased it in Battlefield 1's intro campaign mission. It would have been perfect for BF1's setting, showing the futility of charging trenches in WW1.
I wish they would bring it back and make a single player campaign that revolves around an army, not an individual soldier.

For more info I recommend that you watch the video - Battlefield's Lost Mechanic by Raycevick.

Being able to crouch and sprint was a feature that should've never left. I wish there was a feature that showed where you were hit during a fight.

ADORED the behemoth mechanic in BF1. It made being on the losing side of breakthrough actually interesting and worthwhile

Out of every single feature listed in this video, the one I have utilised the most, and which holds the most utility power for me is this: the inclusion of live video feed for spawns, so that when you selected a squad member, team base, or vehicle, you didn't immediately die. Why i love this is because of one of BF4's major issues, which is spawning. You would often literally die almost instantly when you spawned because of spawn trapping or proximity/AOE from artillery or missile fire. Even using this feature, it still happened a lot. But I definitely loved how we got this.

I miss the squad points system of BF4. Whenever you revive a squad mate or play the objective or just follow the squad leads orders, you would get squad points which would give you added perks that you could unlock and pick, like hold more grenades or quicker revives. This would add reason to follow the squad leads orders

+1 for titan mode. Controlling points actually felt like it made a difference, other than draining tickets. Fighting on the titan was mad fun too.
