Rogue felt like a legit end to an era. The most character crossover in any AC to date; Haytham, Adewale, Achilles, Young Arno. It really made Shay's story feel like the culmination of so much.

Assassin's creed odyssey: You don't care about Assassin's creed. You just want to be an all powerful spartan demigod who needs to hit an npc 57 times to kill them.

black flag's character development was brilliant. edward's story is almost identical to the creed- "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" he even questions it in a scene and learns it later

That trailer of Altair jumping at a templar executioner with his hidden blade coming out was the coolest thing I've seen as a teenager. Playing it was even more amazing. The formula has been improved in later iterations, but i can't put in words what AC1 did. Back when games hyped you up and still delivered.

I played Black Flag expecting it to be dated but it felt like AC to AC II all over again. the running/parkour was far more fluid than I was expecting and threw me off guard at first. also I love pirates

Assassin's Creed 1 is my favorite specifically for the atmosphere and time period. Everything felt worn down and dingy or cold. The Templars spoke in foreign tongue to show how distinctive they were to the land you roamed, and there were no ironic cheap joke characters. The game also had little gameplay or story secrets scattered both in or out of the animus.

Brotherhood felt really fleshed-out. We have horses at our disposal, multi-kill for when you just want to go on a rampage, everything felt massive, the setting were bright, not as gloomy as revelations. My favorite parkour is 2 however. Nothing really beats Venice. Great stuff.

AC III is my favorite for a few reasons, but two that people don’t really talk about are the community missions and complex followers - two features that sadly weren’t really carried into later games.

With the community missions, you can progressively watch a community spring up around Achilles’ home with the people and friends you meet and help. It shows how you are making a difference in the world instead of just random side missions.

The followers were far more developed than in the previous games. You do personalized missions for specific characters that reward you with new follower abilities. You can even talk to them in their cities and learn about their lives. One of them was actually present in that opening mission in the theater and saw Haytham.

These are a couple aspects that made the game feel more personal/immersive that I haven’t seen since (as far as I know).

My favorite is Unity, and I do think that parkour is a firm part of the Assassin fantasy. I like how Arno feels like a black cat, and how he can get in and out of almost every situation undetected. Imo thats how Assassins should be.

AC3 was my introduction to the franchise. I say that as someone who plays very little video games and never played any at all until I was a teenager, to add a little context to that. For me, AC3 is very nostalgic and just relaxing to run around in. RIP to all the beavers I killed, running like a madman through the frontier just shanking them....

AC: Rogue. You couldn’t afford Black Flag so you got this one instead

Oddysey holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first games i ever played in general. When i was younger my dad would play it on our ps4, and sometimes I'd get lucky and he'd let me play for a bit. I remember feeling so proud of myself after i beat talos, the boss my dad was struggling to beat. I was always into greek mythology and im even greek so i think it makes sense why i love it so much. After playing almost every assassin's creed game, i don't think it's as good gameplaywise but for me it'll always be my favorite. Thank you for spending 1‐2 minutes reading this comment.

Unity for me was peek AC. The fluidity of animations while moving was astounding at the time - i had never seen anything like it. The graphics were of the best i have ever seen and still hold up to this day. The combat was very good, although a bit clunky, I really loved the direction they were heading and it finally felt like you could make your own assassin and customize it to your own liking. I wish they improved upon Unity and made a new game with the same style of parkour and combat but fleshed them out. Instead we got the RPG's, which i am not mad - Egypt was a fun place and a great game, but I really really wished they continued with the Unity's animations and combat.

I love Origins simply because it immersed me into the world of ancient egypt so well. I was so grasped by it. Bayek was such a good character too!

The world was so well built I could point out structures that I've seen ruins of myself in Egypt! Seeing the Lighthouse of Alexandria was simply amazing.

Brotherhood and Black Flag really hits the sweet spot for me.
I appreciate Origins and 3 as runner ups.

Even though I started out with the first AC, I really loved AC III the most for the story, unique setting and the way the open world felt
