The captain of the Norrona is about to dock his ship at Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. It's a difficult maneuver - and he's doing it without either a pilot or a tugboat to guide him.

Maybe next time you upload a video saying how easy he made it look, you can actually SHOW us how it looked.

I'll never complain about parallel parking a dinky little car again.

I was engineer on an American tug, North Sea, the only man on the bridge who knew how to run a ship and navigate was the Finnish mate

Great manuvere. But a ship of that size, along with having bow thrusters, does not really need a tug to dock it.

With maneuvering ships, there is something strange. Either you understand what to do right away, or you never understand it.

With that awesome equipment he better be able to dock the vessel first time in calm waters.
Countless times I "walked" my vessel into dock using only twin screws in calm waters.

As long as there is a thruster...no problem, no need tugs.

Mainly tub boats are used for ships not having bow or stern thrusters, so

Back in the day we made "twists" with our two propellers and one rudder *and NO bow thrusters* This was on diesel submarines. Oh, did I mention we had some pretty stiff currents in the Thames River in Connecticut!

Where i live there is a 45 minute ferry route WORKS 24/7, im not kidding, travel time:45mins, and there is no schedual at boarding, its so crowded that there is 4 ferries on the route and the ferries dont wait for scheduales, when they fill up with cars and people, they go. On the arrival the captain starts lowering the ramp about a 100m before the dock, and they stop with the 30cm thick ropes, not with engines, to insure a lower stopping distancnce. They trully make an 80m ferry look like a dinghy while docking., search ferry HRVAT/BIOKOVO/MARJAN/JURAJ DALMATINAC (pick one not all) arrival on yt, thats the 4
