Does age matter in the workplace?

Toptal’s CEO, Taso Du Val, spoke at the Thomson Reuters “Multigenerational Workforce” panel at the World Economic Forum this year, alongside C-levels from McKinsey & Company, Cisco, and Color, examining the impact and value of multigenerational talent as companies shift toward a remote, distributed workforce.

Toptal is the largest high-skilled, fully-distributed workforce in the world. Millennials comprise about 84% of Toptal’s core operational team and global talent network.

In the discussion, Du Val adds, “For the opportunity, age does not matter. But for the dynamic, it does for the individuals. We have to adapt to those individuals’ needs.” He continues, “Working from home is valuable and can happen fluidly today.”

Crafting a remote working environment comes down to working at the individual level to ensure the tools for collaborating and interacting are fluid and seamless, allowing the right kind of culture to emerge to foster high performance.
