This is the exact problem I had on my wife's 06 Accord. Found the hose cracked on the side facing the engine so I could not see the broken area until I carefully examined it. Thanks Scotty for telling us about this!!! You da man!!

Had this issue with a 24 year-old Mitsubishi Montero but replacement intake hose is discontinued and there's no aftermarket options. So I cleaned the cracked hose and sprayed the outside of it liberally with Plasti Dip as a temporary fix until I could track down a good used pipe. Worked like a charm.

10mm socket. The one that always seems to hide from you. Bought 10 piece socket set, all 10mm, from Harbor Freight, 1/4, 2/8, 1/2 drive, shallow/deep/flex. One set for myself, another set to trained mechanic son for Christmas.

When I compare the engine bays of older vehicles to those of many newer models, the difference is truly astounding.
It's incredible how much has changed under the hood.

I know what’s wrong with my 20year old van now. Mine actually split in two. I just taped it back together. I need a complete new one. Cheers Scotty. You are a god in engines.
Genius and that’s mild.❤🚙x

Us Canadians make vehicles well.
I always turn off the traction control.

My Mazda626 had a crack in that rubber connector that you are showing. When I drove forward the car would buck and fart like an angry mule but it was as smooth as glass when backing up. The engine torque opened up the split in the hose when going forward but squeezed the crack closed when backing up.

Good stuff, Scotty, My 2006 Subaru Forester is throwing the same PO 171 code. Subie wants $228.00 for a new OEM MAF sensor, but I might try the engine air intake hose for $80.00 first. I'll clean the MAF sensor and go from there.

Instead of heat, silicone spray can also be used to install the components.

It would be great to see a video on what you can easily clean to make your engine look better, and what not too - also, you mentioned rubber restore before, is this a part you should be regularly applying this too, every year or so?
