I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.

Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was, at the time of this tribute, on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.

We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.

In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".

"Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

Ken, at the end of a rehearsal with KORK for this performance, a video showed Angelina immediately walking over to her grandmother Mery and asking her what she thought of the ending. I got the impression from her voice and body language that she was trying it out and needed to decide if she should go with it or try a more conventional ending.
Unfortunately, a stage person came up and asked her a question so we didn't see Mery's response.
Fortunately, she stuck with perhaps the most sublime ending I have ever heard in a song.

YES, the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE is given in Oslo Norway, most of the others are in Stockholm Sweden. It was clear, that for this, the National Treasure of Norway, AJ, had to perform, she also is part iranian (Grandma Mery) and she arranged the whole performance with the conductor of KORK. She is like a national hero in Norway, hence the title of national treasure.
Sir, be safe and sound.

Great reaction, Ken. Angelina was 17 years old here, singing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, for the winner, Narges Mohammadi. Narges is an Iranian women's rights advocate and has been imprisoned for many years, in addition to receiving 130 lashes. Narges has s twin daughter and son, the same age as Angelina, and she hasn't seen them in many years either. They are now living with their uncle in France. They were sitting just a few meters away from Angelina during the performance, and it must have been quite emotional for both them and Angelina. You can see Angelina turning toward them at the very end of the performance, touching her heart. Angelina's biggest inspiration in life is her grandmother Mary Zamani, who is Iranian just like Narges. You have to think that Angelina and her grandmother must have been discussing these matters a lot, and that this performance meant a lot to Angelina, her grandmother, and to the entire family as well. Also, considering what the lyrics is describing, you will see that the song she chose couldn't have been much more appropriate. And the same can be said about the way she performed the song. The setting called for an elegant and dignified performance, and that's just what they got from this 17 year old girl 🙂
This was Angelina's 2nd time performing on a Nobel Peace Price concert, the first one happened when she was 8. In interviews from Angelina was very young (just after she'd won Norway's Got Talent at age 8), she has said that one of her biggest dreams was to perform on the concert. We may call this a dream come double true. This also made Angelina the first artist ever to perform twice before the age of 18.
Take care, Ken! Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Thank you for responding so quickly to my request. You're one of my favorite reactors to AJ and you didn't disappoint again. I'll be sending more requests. I said I'm back because I had just requested the Bad Valentine reaction last week. Thanks again,

If you take the time to read this you will truly understand that AJ is the most extraordinary storyteller of our lifetime.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023
Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song—the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch, " she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater—an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected—to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted—a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude—for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare—a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being.

Excellent reaction Ken...much appreciation to you and for supporting our Angel. She just released an audio only (Jazz) version of her new song Bad Valentine with Toby Gad and after 8 years of following her it is simply the best I have ever heard from her (that is hard to say) Angelina singing Jazz in incomparable by anyone's standards. Cheers.

Knowing the background, the perspective, of this performance, it is totally captivating and heart wrenching. Such a wonder experiencing her artistry and kind soul in this song.

Wonderful reaction Ken. The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of her is fascinating and wonderfully intimate, she reinterpreted this legendary song and adapted it perfectly to the emotion of the homage to the painful story of Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and wonderful. Isn't necessary the reaction, but only for great plaisure of listen 💛🧡❤
Reaction is not mandatory, but listen even just for your own pleasure to the wonderful jazz version she just released, together with Toby Gad, of her latest original "Bad Valentine", it is simply an unreal interpretation for its beauty.

Tis spng was sung to the children of the recipient Iranian Narges Mohammand, incarcerated in Iran for 31 years and 154 whiplashes, because she dared to advocate women´s rights in a totalitarian tyranny. So AJ did this song VERY soft, representing Narges, singing to her family. In Las Vegas on February 29th 2024 she put the mufflers away and brought the audience to their feet.

AJ has performed with the KORK Orchestra on many occasions.
Angelina Jordan's collaborations with the KORK Orchestra have showcased her remarkable talent and leadership in music. Her hands-on approach in co-arranging performances with the orchestra leader and her insistence on being in charge reflect her dedication to her art. The public rehearsals offer a transparent view into the creative process, highlighting the meticulous work that goes into each performance. Jordan's commitment to perfect pitch is crucial, as it ensures the highest quality of musical experience, especially for those with a keen sense of hearing who can detect even the slightest distortion. Her ability to lead and shape the music, rather than follow, speaks volumes about her influence and control in the realm of musical performance.

Ken, she recorded the album "Its magic" with the norwegian military staff band at age 12. It has a nice, timeless quality. They invited her to do that for their 200y (i think) anniversary. The album keeps popping in and out of the Itunes jazz charts to this day. She started on Norways got Talent at age 7, so its more than half her life on stage by now (age 18).

Actually, Angelina sang this song in a more subdued fashion because of the solemn nature of the occasion. They did not manipulate her volume.

They kept this subdued because of the occasion! Yes Norwegian TV. Angelina (17) and KORK(Norwegian Radio Orchestra) did a magnificent rendition of Unchained Melody! The perfect song for Narges Mohammadi Nobel Peace Prize! And let’s not forget Angelina’s Iranian heritage and Oslo is her hometown! Third time with KORK, she did Back to Black and Summertime when she was 10! Has been invited twice to Nobel Peace Prize, previously appeared when she was eight! She has brought grace and elegance back to the stage! Narges is in jail for leading the fight for women’s rights in Iran! At the end Angelina puts her hand over her heart acknowledging Narges children who were on stage and happen to be Angelina’s age and are living in exile in France! Remember that she was codified a National Treasure of Norway by the King and Prime Minister when she was eight years old!
She continues to excel and her work ethic is fantastic! The collaboration is awesome and how she says she will add something to it at the end, a master at work!
Angelina’s Mom Sara produced this short documentary narrated by Angelina!

Angelina gives the song what it needs—not show off what she can do. She has complete control over her deep vocal toolkit, and we see how effectively she chooses, in this sophisticated setting, to honor the original song and the dignity of the Nobel Peace Prize.

AJ is more than enchanting:
Angelina Jordan's performances are indeed a holistic experience. Her unique voice, often described as soulful and beyond her years, is just one aspect of her artistry. Observers note that her expressive facial gestures and the heartfelt way she often places a hand over her heart add layers of depth to her performances. These visual elements contribute to the emotional resonance of her music, making the experience of watching her live or through video recordings particularly impactful. It's the combination of her vocal talent and her expressive presentation that captivates audiences worldwide, leaving a lasting impression that goes beyond the auditory experience.
