In today's video, we are going over the split, merge, and mixer blocks/routing for our Helix and HX Stomp devices. Split and Merge/Mixer are very useful tools to know how to use if you use any of the Helix family devices from Line 6. In this video, I'm going over all of them.

God, I love your videos! In 5 minutes, you cleared up a ton of confusion about splits in simple, concise language. Amazing work, as always.

For bass, I used splits to add dry signal into effects that don't have a blend feature. For a while I was goofing around with sending higher freq's to a guitar amp with distortion. I got some interesting sounds out of that. My downfall is patience. I lack the patience to explore all the HX Stomp can do...

Dude. You're the only one that goes over this stuff. The HX Stomp manual should just say "Go watch all of Scott's videos." And yes I have seen all your videos. Thank you so much for all your content. You're the best HX Stomp guy anywhere. Thank you thank you thank you!!

Split paths is killer for Bass 🤩 can do some really amazing stuff! Really having several different instruments running simultaneously!

Pro here.
Got this thing 24hrs ago, programmed it yesterday for today's show - split for electric bass on L and synth bass on R.
The software UI is not the friendliest, but your tutorial delivered.
I had some expected issues with levels, but that's for homework on another vid of yours I watched back on the tourbus, that's global settings. Cheers

Thank you once again Scott for the informative videos very helpful.

This is awesome! Thanks! I add a Send L block prior to the amp block to get a pseudo wet/dry setup. I have the Send going to my dry amp and the L/Mono out to the board where it's receiving only the wet effects. It's pretty fun!

Simple, covers the topic end to end, straight to the point without fluffy/subjective descriptions and very instructive... Even knowing and using this to a very big extend (example, on Bass I like to apply octaver only when I play from the second lower E (aka, above the 7th fret on A string) note onwards, so I use the crossover to that, so I don't lose bottom end when I move up in fret for certain songs/bands/etc I play). The Dynamic is on my backburner, I find it very cool, but haven't find a place for it just yet.

Also, I would love Line6 to apply these principles on a BLOCK, not only on path. By that I mean, I would love to have a parallel dry/wet option, rather and a sequential one. 50% dry/wet is not the same of 50% dry + 50% wet, and having these options on every block would allow you to have a 50% output of a combined 100% dry and 100% wet distorted sound... and I'm very sure this audio information is there, at the block level, you just can't treat them separately simply because the blocks are still "locked" to the old limitation of analogue pedals. It's time to unleash more of the "digital-only" unexplored features.

Love your work. Cheers from Down Under!

I've never used split crossover or split dynamic because I never really gave much thought to what they do but I'm definitely going to try them out as an alternative to just the mixer. Thanks!
