Amazing how the smallest car company managed to best everyone else in this test. Ever since Ford and Mazda broke up, their cars have been getting better and better.

There's a driver in my country crashed his CX-5. Did multiple barrel roll, fly, and went into a ditch (10 meters/32 feet deep). He survived with only scratch in his hand by punching the sunroof to escape, but not even a scratch on passenger. Chassis held so well, but other than that it's completely destroyed.

Edit: it was 70 meters (225 feet)

One thing that has always scared me in these crash tests is when glass goes flying across the person... This is one of the only side crash test I've ever seen where no glass protrudes across the passengers at all. As far as I'm concerned Mazda is now top dog in safety and performance

one reason i recommend these is for safety. i could tell before this test the side looked safer/beefier. thats why i got one. not to mention theyre supposed to be reliable and they look and ride pretty great.

Great to see the cx-5 performing well. Why was the cx-30 not tested? I imagine it should perform just as well since it’s a newer design.
