The idea that things like steamdeck are "competition" for the Switch is honestly hilarious. The steamdeck has sold 1-2 million units. The Switch has sold over 140 million. Nintendo literally doesn't give two shits about alternative PC handhelds.

I never understood why nobody else got what the U for Wii U was. It was quite literally a Wii for U, the hardcore gaming market. Which is why it launched with games such as the newest Assassin's Creed release, need for speed, an actual good version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3 ECT.

I think I've struck on something, and it makes Switch 2 actually a very appropriate name!

I think the C button means Couple. You can wirelessly couple your Switch 2 with another Switch 2 (maybe even OG too!), your dock, or an additional dock.

A single Switch 2 can generate two displays, one of them cast to another device, for:

1. Single cartridge multiplayer across two systems - evolution of Download Play
2. Asymmetrical two-screen multiplayer with both TV and handheld/tabletop player(s)
3. Two TVs for 8-player split screen, powered by one docked Switch, cast to other dock
4. Dual screen play via coupling for options covering DS/3DS/WiiU games

This could even work with a smartphone app to use that as a second display, each can still use the Joy-Cons registered to the Switch 2

Third parties can just ignore it, deactivate it, or it just defaults to screen mirroring

I think the reason why Nintendo is using numbers now is because they found the perfect format and they don't need to change it. A handheld console that is also a home console.

The name Wii comes from a combination of the word "We" and the symbolism of the two "i"s being two people. It is supposed to have a sense of community on the game system. Think of Miis as well. The same concept was used for the DS revision, the DSi, where the i _(often incorrectly attributed to meaning internet, when the original DS also had internet functionality)_ is supposed to represent one person. The DS(i) is a personal system, and the Wii is for everybody to share.

This got me thinking a little. Since Ninty do name their things with some form of meaning, maybe they did the same here. The dock seems to be bigger if leaks are correct, which suggests it might have tech in it. Imagine a switch that you can use both the switch screen at the same time as the tv sceen ala wii u by casting to the dock wirelessly. it could allow DS and Wii U backwards compatibility. Plus its not like Nintendo to just upgrade hardware. the 2 could reference 2 screens

4:48 TBF It is the IPs that each Console has that REALLY matter. Sony, X-Box and Valve don't have many IPs worth buying a Console over while Nintendo has LOADS of Good IPs.

I'm buying it because of it being handheld. I have a PlayStation 5. I love it. But it doesn't have the convenience without buying the PlayStation. Whatever it's called without being in handheld mode. But I love handheld mode. Now with that being said. I would like Nintendo to switch up the colors from red to a different color for the switch 2.
And yes I see Microsoft dropping out of the console race. Because you can play most of their games on PC or whatever. So it doesn't really matter. That's why you keep your IPS so personal. And that's what Nintendo does and that's why there's Nintendo ninjas.
But I would like to see the Nintendo switch 2 logo be more than red and white. Maybe this time black and white, black and gray purple and whatever. It doesn't really matter. That way. You know it's a new system and you're not buying into an old system. Even though the name says it, it's simply marketing 101.

Okay so seeing as the C button as cast has been “ruled out” by Samus hunter I think I have an alternative option. What if it’s connect and there’s going to be a 2nd screen that can physically connect to the main system. It can also act like a Wii U gamepad when the system is docked. But will have the same issues as the Wii U gamepad if it’s not connected it doesn’t function away from the main one.

Put some respect on tabletop mode. That was my go-to, especially since my "new" TV was noticeably laggier than the previous one - to the point where I just quit playing on it.
