I feel so bad for his childhood if that’s true.

David Chase was my favorite writer on The Sopranos. I wish they would have done more with him

This guy is a genius for how relatable and yet interesting was the writing on the Soprano

Glad I wasn’t the only one who had a crazy mother like Livia or David Chases mom. I love my mother a lot but deep down I know she’s rooted as a borderline sociopath and manipulator. It depresses me sometimes knowing that

Its actually shocking when I watch the series, how much she reminds me of my own mom. So its comforting that its based on David's real life mother.

I’ll give Chase credit. At least he tries to see the bright side.

My dad's mother was like that. She took his Vietnam war money (while dad was STILL AT WAR) and spent it on his brother's wedding, probably thinking dad wouldn't survive the war anyway. But dad did survive, so she lied and told him she gave the money to his grandparents (who were poor, and she knew dad wouldn't care if his money helped them). Years later he learned the truth. (She also tried to get him to leave his wife and kid--me--sell his house, and give the money to his brother and his family. Why they were always trying to get the BABY brother to give his money to the older brother is beyond me. But the older one was always her favorite.)

Nobody ever believes you until they witness the savage themselves or deal with it then they give you the look of 'Wow, I know what you mean'

What about his father though? Did he have any characters based on him? Seems that both his parents were awful in different ways.
