Jacksons Miniseries Got Randy's Age Wrong For The Time The Jackson 5 Left Motown (1992)

#tbt #ThrowbackThursday

In 1975, the Jackson 5 left Motown, but one of its members, Jermaine, decided to remain with the label. Jermaine, at the time, was married to Hazel Gordy, daughter of Motown president and founder Berry Gordy.

Randy Jackson officially joined the group at this time, which had changed its name to The Jacksons.

In the miniseries, The Jacksons: An American Dream, Randy Jackson is depicted as a grown man at the time, which his father and group manager, Joe Jackson, asking him if he was ready.

But in reality, Randy was still body, only 14 years old at the time.

This is certainly a small detail. But it goes to show that one cannot believe everything contained in a biographical drama.

The producers thought well we can save money by hiring only one Randy to handle teen-adult...it wasn’t important enough, even though it was ridiculous

The REAL Randy Jackson didn't look like he started puberty yet after Jermaine quit, and he took his place!

I think they should make a better version and add their last performance in 2001
