Lost four of its seven Oscar nominations to Saving Private Ryan. Too bad because it was worthy of winning each one. It should have at least won Best Cinematography for John Toll’s incredible work. There are shots in this film that are amongst the most beautiful and thrilling ever.

Hans Zimmer's score is absolute perfection. I love no movie more than this one.

It's too bad this staggeringly gorgeous film from a reclusive auteur was released the same year as the undoubtedly wrenching, more accessible Saving Private Ryan. Its images of torturous war at the doorstep of a Pacific eden and especially its score, before there was practically an expectation that Hans Zimmer's name would be attached to such a project, haunt me to this day.

For me it is one of the most tremendous movie and whole history of cinema. It makes you think about life, and all that surround it as human being, nature but espacially why men are always fignting since the begining. This is the masterpiece of Terrence Malick, thanks to him and all actors who make us think how beautiful it is to be alive !!

Funny how Adrien Brody though he was a lead character, until Malick deleted all his scenes, except the rare ones where he looks bewildered and scared to death. A good decision - a movie based on a cowardly character like Upham would not work. An enigmatic Jim Caveziel, a fed-up Sean Penn, and an absolute powerhouse of Nolte, in contrast with a good man and a fatherly figure Elias Koteas, carry this movie.

This movie is a masterpiece.

My favourite Malick. He really loves shooting scenes in the golden hour. Sumptuous photography.

Caviezel has a great face. Calm, gentle and delicate man but not in a wimpy way.
Great casting. No wonder why Gibson chose him for Jesus.

I've seen Thin Red Line several times. Been thinking of renting it again. Deep film. I like how they cover the grunt perspective as well as Nick Nolte's charachter as an officer. The music of the peaceful island natives is such a great opposite perspective to the carnage of the combat portrayed.

This move is just something.. I remember watching it first time when I was 15. After the credits started rolling I was just left empty somehow. This movie does that, still wish I could watch it again for the first time, just as movies like Drive or BR2049.

The is one of the few war films that has so much depth and meaning. To fully understand it, you have to carefully watch a few times to fully catch its subtle beauty..

Great! One of the best anti-war films.I think this is the movie with the most big Hollywood stars in one set !?!

My wish: "The Beauty of The new World" 😊

I watched this movie as a 7 year old with my granda on a cold winters night. I remember it vividly. 20 years later and the movie has been with me since. There's something about Hans Zimmer's music and Jim's character that spoke to me. It's inexplicable really. All I know is it had a profound, positive effect on me and will continue to do so the rest of my days. Thanks Granda, until we meet again.

One of my favorite war movies ever made, it captures that eerie feeling of being on deployment and how exhausting combat and just doing a long range movement under gear and weapons perfectly.
